Dr. March has lived in the New River Valley since 2005, and Floyd County since 2008. He moved to Virginia from South Carolina to attend the Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg. He completed his Internal Medicine Internship, Residency and Chief Residency by 2013 and since then has worked as an outpatient internist and as attending physician and Medical Director at the local nursing home and rehabilitation center.
Working for several large medical systems has shown Dr. March one of the biggest problems with modern medicine - a lack of focus on the patient and their needs. The demands on the physician to see more patients, document more, click more check-boxes and ring-up more charges has shifted the physician's attention away from the patient. It is Dr. March's hope in opening Little River Medical, that he may be able to focus more attention on serving the needs of his patients and his community.
Dr. March values tradition and appreciates that although many things are better today, some things aren't. When he and his wife Marie found the 1898 Victorian home that is now Little River Medical, they knew they were onto to something special. Step into the office and step back a century. Modern medicine. Traditional charm.
